Layers of Reality in the Particle Physics Description of the Universe
There are layers of reality in the particle physics description of the universe, just as there are layers of rock under east yorkshire. And researches s at places like the bulby underground lab and at sern are aimed at digging through them. A hundred years ago, before they had invented particle accelerators or atom smashers like you have at sern, physicists were going the opposite direction. Far from descending deep into the earth, they were climbing mountains where the galaxy was giving them particles for free. That's where they started discovering utterly unexpected layers of reality - anti matter. Nothing is simple in particle physics, but simplicity is what they seek.
