How Much Does Politics Hold Back the Importation of More Immigrants?

How much does politics hold back the re introduction of more immigrants into the work force? If i'm in the fitin administration, i'd be like, we have this like work or shortage, and wouldn't it be great if we could get more immigrants over here? And let's work on that, and let's make that a priority. Of the administration to get more people into the country to work. But, like, the politics is so crazy around immigration that, like, doing that would be a terrible idea,. i would imagine, cause people are so panicked by immigrants.
