Judge Pratt, Dignity Is a Two Way Street
Dignity goes both ways, and it's not a thing you can demand as a judge. And what you are trying to describe in this book is this two way street where both sides need to buy in. So if the supreme court does not care about its legitimacy in the eyes of the people, that trickles down to the entire system. People also have to know that there's predictability in these decisions that are coming out. The person who just came before me got one thing, and then now i show up and it's different. It can't be.
