'This Is Going to Hurt'
Many maternity units just aren't investigating the problems that they're being accused of, and failing to improve their care. I think part of the problem is that external bodies such as the care quality commission, which inspect and rate maternity services, probably their rating system can't be relied upon. In several of the trusts where serious incidents and deaths happened, they had been rated as good by the c c c. So i think there's definitely a question mark over how hospitals and maternity services are being inspected or whether they're being held to a high enough standard.
