We're a Large Company, and We've Always Operated From a Position of Strength

Both Charlie and I come from a background where we ran partnerships. Neither one of us ever had a single institution investment with us. And so we've always felt that our job is basically that of a trustee. We own 100% of the stock of a great many businesses, which to us are like marketable stocks they don't have a quote on them.
