Treat people the way you'd like to be treated. Don't tell them what to do, they are more likely to share their problems with you. If you see that somebody's made a mistake and it's in your favour, correct that mistake a and help them. Even animals in rough and tumble games of play fighting will choose to lose to their weaker opponent because if they win every time against their weaker opponent,. the weaker opponent will give up and not come back and play the game. And so when you show that you're willing to play, not just fairly by the rules, but you're actually going willing to give your opponent an advantage then they want to play with you.
Guy Spier is the founder and investment manager at Aquamarine Capital, and author of The Education of a Value Investor, which is one of the best books I have read about someone’s personal journey in life, business, and investing. In this episode, we talk about Guy's ideas of finding your North Star, compounding goodwill, the immense power of reciprocity, and much more.
