Left Politics and the Transformation of the Past Three Decades

You periodize left politics in cycles of strugglete. The most recent one beginning with the squares protests, occupy ing the us. And you argue that the movements that are emerging to day are the product of each of these kind of distinct moments over the past three decades. Why talk about cycles of struggle? It's helpful for an analytic and secondly, it's helpful, i think, to recognize the way in which local political struggles can have a tendentially global effects.
