How Sand Martins Dig Burrows

DNA analysis of sand martins and their nestlings has shown that about 20% of the chicks are not fathered by the male bird that's feeding them. If I've ringed a brood of chicks, I can sometimes find them in other nests once they fledged. So we know that they're going around trying to get free food off some other poor unsuspecting parrots. Or they could just be having a rest and it's just like an added bonus. Yeah. And I guess, yeah, when they arrive here, they've made a huge journey, haven't they? Thousands. How many, how far have they come? I think it's about 4000 kilometres from the Sahal
