Why Baseball Makes Great

Every year when spring rolls around and MLB season kicks off, I once again start following the Padres. And then I also go back to my idea I want to at some point create a role playing game that's about baseball players. Why do people call baseball the national pastime? It went through a period where it was football. And I feel like maybe it's back to basketball again? You're going to have a skewed perspective living in Utah because there's not a professional football team. We don't have an NFL team but we have a professional basketball team.
