Is OPEC a Good Strategy?

In theory, the way to break a cartel is to create alternate sources of production and undercut their pricing. But there are reasons why this cartel has operated successfully since 1973. It's very hard to do that because most of the oil producers are in the cartel. So if you want to destroy the cartel in 2035, it's not a good strategy for right now.
