In the 19 sixties, there is massive white rejection of basically every major civil rights movement campaign. And it takes a long time for them to develop the kind of right balance between race baiting and dog whistles with without actually naming those things two ally. This is a long term pro ject teir state capture and the capture of other sub federal institutions. But it's a mistake to think that it is actually mostly a reaction to something that just happened.
