CHAPTER

Rewinding, Fine Tuning and Neural Network Pruning - Is There a Sparse Subnet?

Alex renda, who's a student in our lab, am worked really hard on this for the past year. He got n orl ad eye clear on this paper. So what we did was we just tried taking the lottery ticket, algerthem and asking these prue networks that we get, how do they do compared to standard prune networks fom other techniques? And the answer was actually pretty good, in fact, about state of the art. The only difference is you take learning rate that you would have gotten from rewinding, but you don't bother to reset the weights. And it turns out that this gets you even better performance.
