Since Elon's announcement that he's taking over Twitter, we are seeing reports of just massive user gains for Mastodon. 70,000 users joining in the last couple of weeks is one of the numbers I've seen going around. The service has a similar look to Twitter with a timeline of short updates sorted chronologically rather than algorithmically. It lets users join a slew of different servers run by various groups and individualsRather than one central platform controlled by a single company like Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.
