The Question of Unfettered Free Speech in the 17th Century

Our culture was today in any ways successors to the wars of the 1640s. And that's the question of unfettered free speech and clearly has a huge contemporary significance when we think about the internet legislation and so forth. The analogy I would make in the middle of the 17th century is that you are sort of locally seeing battles between Puritans who see people's relationship with God as being the most important thing in their lives and anti Puritans who See relationships with their neighbor. And those are very, very difficult views to reconcile.
