The Reality of Income Redistribution
Fewer than half of those Americans who were in the much discussed top 1% and income in 1996 were still there in 2005. The turnover rate among people in the highest income brackets is even greater than that of the population in general. At some point between the ages of 25 and 60 over three quarters, the population will find themselves in the top 20% of the income distribution.
