The History of Taiwan

There was a Spanish presence in northern Taiwan, from 1626 to 1642. The most visible legacy is the Fort of San Domingo in Danjie. In Chinese they use the name Hongmaltan, or Red Hair Fort. Some Sino-Spanish military delegations were to set up specialized military courses.
