How Did You Learn Latin?
i grew up in the sixties, 19 sixties. One of the influences on my whole life was a wonderful latin teacher called john evans. He taught me greek from the age of eight. So i think i was kind of destined to be a classicist,. even though i actually left the field university because ih'd been studying for such a long time and i became a musician. But em i went back to it, i was drawn back t i was very lucky to be able to go back in my thirties to do a doctorate - then at the age of forty to get a fellowship at oxford.
