The Four Interventions to Instigate Social Change
This is actually the fourth in a series of monologues about instigating social change by focusing less on changing or manipulating people. I got the word register from business ethicist Jerry Davis, with whom I've been working on an initiative called Equitable Enterprise at Institute for the Future. The register is almost like a scale or a key in a piece of music. You go from C major to F minor, right? So we have the math and economics to show how a circular economy distributes greater prosperity to more people than extractive competitive ones. But shifting from one to the other would require a substantial shift in values.
