The Science of Elections
This week we're looking at a global glut of news from Thailand to Turkey. What is it that persuades people to vote for one side over another? Money and kitty. But when it comes to an election most times we are not engaging in an objective examination of the facts. Instead we are influenced by what we call cognitive bias. Do scientists know why we filter information through this bias? One of the arguments is that it's too time consuming to process every piece of information objectively. Also there's an argument that it's unevolved trade actually, according to cognitive scientists.
