Every country in the Sahel is racked by multiple insurgencies. By moving into town, Mr Ali in his group is avoiding a lot of that strife and benefiting in other ways from doing so. He reckons that in Niamh, now school attendance has got up to about 30% or so among his group. That's still low, but it's a lot better than a month.
