Jesus Delay in the Gospel of John
John might want us to reflect upon these two paradomatic responses to a sense of christ's absence in tragedy. Jesus delay is not out of an absence of love. In this episode, jesus enters into the emotions associated with the tragedy of human loss and the pain inflicted by the enemy of death. That jesus does not always turn up when people first need him is a spur to a dogged and persistent faith.
