In the early, early foundation of new england, these people had a weight. Even though they're cut off from imperial power, real physical power, in the sense of like canons and and navies and things like that they're not backed by that. They show up essentially with nothing in tha new neighborhood, and they themselves get respected by virtue of who they are.
