Emotions Have Appropriateness Conditions

The fear of death does seem to be widespread although it's not directly connected with what we've been talking about. Emotions have different appropriateness conditions. Fear is only an appropriate emotion if thereis some uncertainty about the coming or the size of or the nature of the bad thing. The later they get, especially, the less grounds they have to feel that they've under on a misfortune.
