What's the Genre of a Writing?

In the New Testament, do you have divisions of genre that align more closely with what a modern audience would expect so that it's more of a natural read? It's an important question and scholars are very keen to do what you were suggesting earlier, which is look at the genre of a writing. You have to see the way genre works. A science fiction novel is not the same as an op-ed and neither of us like a scientific treatise. And you have to read different things differently.
