Is the Capitalist Promise Really a Promise of Satisfaction?
The capitalist promise is, you might think of it as a fantasy. It's the idea that at some point i will be able to real realize my desire and not be able to cease to be a lacking subject. The whole basis of capitalism is that future satisfaction can arise. So in each case i'm trying to find, i'm seduced by the idea that there'll be something in the commodity that will allow me to achieve a kind of satisfaction not hindered by lack.
