Anthony deagon and patrick vallance became friends at the independent truro school in cornwall. The future chief scientific adviser was born just outside london in essex, in 19 60. I think he was slightly discombobulatin coming to cornwall after being brought up in london until the age of 13 or 14 but i think he got into the groove very quickly. He was bright and hard working.
