Accessibility and the Politics of Annotating Images
I'm seeing commonly in accessibility research is applying a technical solution to solve an access barrier like image providing image descriptions for people who are blind or low vision without considering the consequences of that. We're obviously you know keen that people take an intersectional approach because that's the only way that we can come to these very complex problems with a good understanding of everything that could go wrong while trying to come up with a good solution. The politics of annotating pictures is obviously so interesting and very much speaks to the heart of what we do I really interested by these ideas of collaborative access and interdependence but also how they relate to strands of AI ethics dedicated to preserving human autonomy whatever that means.
