What Is Benford's Law and How Does It Apply to Election Results?

I think everyone's just trying to get to the bottom of this. Benford's law assumes many more orders of magnitude than you actually see in election results. So it's never a smoking gun, but it's often indicative of something weird. But there's not really any central clearinghouse where people are getting together and saying if you're going to run the numbers or try to detect fraud.
