CHAPTER

The Cost of Success in Entertainment

The writers just went on strike in Hollywood. And I was listening to the podcast about it. Part of the reason that writers in Hollywood were going on strike, and there's about 9,200 of them, is that as their work ends up on streaming platforms, there are less residuals than there are on cable. On YouTube, we do have residuals in that if our videos are good and they get watched five years from now, and they're still advertising, we will make money from that work five years ago. It's so unique actually that YouTube has cracked that code, to pay artists and creatives.
