Pukal - The Earliest Attested Reference of the Word in the Oxford English Dictionary
There are only three attested references of the word Pukal in the Oxford English Dictionary. The earliest is in a 1584 text called The Discovery of Witchcraft by a Reginald Scott, where it's mentioned in a list of mythical monsters like Fire Drapes and Hobgoblins. In folklore, these pucks or pukas or pukir in folklore were nasty creatures. They're mischievous or wicked or even downright evil.
