The Importance of Assessment in Primary School

I think one of the problems that we have is at the end of year six you get a big exam and there's such emphasis put on that. The problem with only having an exam in year six and then not another one until your age 16 is that the data set from both of those is pretty much useless because we don't do anything about it. It would be a heck of a lot better if there was an exam every year. So year six wasn't such a big deal and we were able to actually do something with that data that was purposeful and meaningful.
