Versailles was designed with a singular theme in mind. Baroque, by itself, is the pinnacle of Louis XIV's imprint on French art and culture. You can't approach Versailles without being humbled. The palace interior is an explosion of refinement and gilded details. Everything blue pigment is a statement itself due to the high cost and rarity.
