A lot of the post-Soviet world was actually inviting the United States to do just this. Vasslav Habal, who is a big fan of Clinton and Blair, has this incredible mark against him because he went along with the invasion of Iraq. Nelson Mandela probably had no choice in liberation of apartheid. But he was unflinching in understanding what the war in Iraq was really all about in terms of imperial objectives. That sort of split is really important.
