The Story of Tallyrand and the Church of the Ensien

Tallyrand was stripped of his inheritance rights as first born son, and they were bestowed upon his younger brother. The disinherited tallyrand was then shipped off to boarding school and, a few years later, to a seminary. After he finally was ordained, at the age of 25, tallyrand was appointed an agent general of the church. In many ways, tallyrand is the perfect example of everything pious catholics complained about in the church of the ensien regime.
