Interviews Are Like Booby Traps

For every question that gets asked, there's like a whole foundation of assumptions underneath that question. Tom Waits has a tendency to just invent mythological explanations for things rather than answer a simple question because he finds the simple question as often as not boring. Like Mary Carr, I've interviewed. It's one of the few interviews that I really prepared for other than just reading the books.
