King Philip the Second of the Spanish Kingdoms
King philip the second of the spanish kingdoms kept up his father's passion for waging war and cast himself as the great defender of catholicism. He was, for example, the principal financier for the holy league's navy that soundly defeated the turks at laponto in 15 71 - one of the greatest naval battles of all time. After its peak during the reigns of charles and philip in the 15 hundreds, the subsequent reigns of philip the third, philip the fourth and charles the second that spanned the whole length of the 16 hundreds was just one long decline.
