The Eye of God
The self as a subject never shows itself as an object. You can't know yourself in the same way that you can know other things, objects. Imagine there's two identical human beings and they're identical twins - Tweedle, Dumb and Tweedle Dee from Lewis Carroll. And every atom in each body is reduplicated exactly in the other. What makes them two? Each one says, I, and means a totally different being. That to my mind is the deepest answer to the question what is the image of God?
