Top Gun Maverick reverses that. Because this is a story that is absolutely, I mean, how could it not be consciously patterned on a very distinctly Jewish story? And yet the movie goes out of its way for whatever reason to make it so that the story doesn't feel Jewish or Israeli in any way. So it's sort of like the reverse Piccolo's black phenomenon. That's another perceptive observation. It's portrayed as the triumph of an individual Maverick and the individual pilots who undertake the same mission.
