The Importance of Memory in Writing

I love that remembering can happen in different ways. And I think it's exciting as a reader and a writer when we are brought to something in an unexpected way. So much becomes formulaic and quite sentimental, really. It's really cloying or something. But I want them to feel that they're in conversation with what is going on in my book.
