The Pros and Cons of Hosting Renewable Energy Projects
A string of approvals have come out in the last week for a solar and storage facility. The reason why it came into prominence is because it got planning approval, which I guess is a good thing too. But tell us about your own family's farming situation and why it's interested in hosting these sort of projects. So my family's been on the property that I now live on or part of it since the 1860s. And we were approached by wind developers back in the early 2000s under the Howard Government's original mandatory renewable energy target. We saw it as a way of diversification, of drought-proofing the property, making the properties more financially sustainable.
