The Importance of Moral Evaluation in Political Engagements
Sam and Carlin may agree on many of their moral evaluations towards the practices of certain cultures but they have different temperaments. This is a distinction which is often lost when moral philosophy moves into popular political philosophy. Two people can agree that the moral behavior of another group or person is wrong but can starkly disagree about how best to intervene if at all. Those differences regarding intervention are ignited by the initial moral evaluations but are not defined by them. One can be a political isolationist or a strong advocate of military intervention or be at any point on that political spectrum and should still be able to hold and hopefully freely express a moral evaluation without being held to a narrow political prescription.
