The History of the Mercado De Medelln

Before Spaniards arrived, Mexico's markets were centers for trade and social gatherings. El Mercado de Medellín got its name because a lot of immigrants from Medellín and other parts of Colombia lived in La Roma in the early 20th century. For over 100 years, residents new and old in La Roma have come to the market to buy goods. This centuries-old tradition continues to be a source of pride and cultural identity for Mexicans.
