The Importance of Subjectivity in Pathology
Subjectivity is obviously a very important area in pathology opinions very interpretation varies and that's what pathology is really it's not an absolute clear cut black and white subspecialty within the greater remit of medicine. There are several what I would call gray areas and one of them is in prostate pathology where distinction between a grade three and a grade four prostate cancer has very important therapeutic consequences on the patient. This is an area that has been widely investigated by several people involved in artificial intelligence to develop an algorithm that will distinguish between these two grades which are of course of clinical importance.
