The Dangers of a Helicopter Flight
The helicopter crew lowers a line to the survivors to try to get them to hold on to it and tow them to shore. The first to receive the line was a man named Bert Hamilton, who's training water about 10 feet from the plane's floating tail. They thought that the survivors only had a few minutes before succumbing to hypothermia. Persons likely to survive only 15 to 45 minutes with flotation and possibly up to an hour with flotationand protective gear.
