Anti-slavery was incredibly divisive, it led to a civil war. There's no issue around which the British public was more united than opposing the slave trade,. And it crossed class lines and all these kinds of things. The fact that this movement kept persisting at it, despite the fact that they weren't having that much success to start with, and they were up against a lot of opposition. I guess that makes it seem like we're just going to keep trying until the starts happen to align and they're able to get their way.
