Paul says that even when we were dead in our trespasses, he made us alive together with Christ. Boasting is finding your security in something - and we all have to do it. Life apart from God looks like boasting in if you're a student and you're grades. It's boasting in your career or your salary or your retirement. The only boast of the Christian is in the mercy of God and Jesus Christ.
