Character from a modern psychological perspective is pretty much settled by by your early 20s, which is when your brain settles. We also know that doesn't mean you cannot improve afterwards, especially if you want to improve. And then the more more generous and courageous or more able to become more correct as adults. But we also presumably if the analogy with music is correct, then everybody, including those people can improve. Both Mozart and Beethoven were prodigies but they both learned also how to become better because of their fathers who were teaching them how to do play better.
