The word itself, nonten, seems to be a lone word from another language. This thing did not originally fit what we understand to be the description of bigfoot. But over the decade since this incident, various authors have completed the two concepts. So now people will understandably, but incorrectly, assume nontenok is another word for sasquach, which it is not.
