There is concern within the defense community that due to the low barrier to entry and the low price tag that these may just be used as swarm weapons rather than any sort of accuracy. China could launch 10,000 small uuvs packed with explosives toward a fully stocked Ford class carrier and even if they lose all 10,000 uuvs taking the carrier down they'd still come out financially ahead. I think it's much more likely that we'll see smaller numbers of that than that working closer to existing platform so in my mind the future of this is really not about large numbers of uuvs and swarms operating independently it's really about combination of man system and unmanned systems.
