Edward IV was in his prime. He left London with his army and went after Warwick, meeting him near Barnet about 10 miles outside the city, on April 14th. In a foggy, confused mess of a fight, King Edward fought in the front rank. His soldiers beat back Warwick's men, and Warwick himself tried to flee into some woods. The Wily Warwick had escaped his doom many times before, but this time he had reached the end. With Henry VI's death, practically every major figure on the land-casterine side was dead or captured.
